Morgan State University Athletics

Edward “Fast Eddie” Hayes was a standout defensive back for Morgan State University, earning All-CIAA honors four times during his collegiate career. Hayes was also a key member of Morgan State’s 1966 football team that captured the NCAA South Atlantic Region Championship.

Hayes’ exceptional play in the Morgan State secondary helped establish him as one of the Bears’ premier defensive performers of his era. His collegiate success led to an opportunity at the professional level when he was selected by the Denver Broncos in the fourth round of the NFL Draft.

Hayes was inducted into the Morgan State University Varsity “M” Club Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004 as part of a distinguished class of former Morgan State coaches and athletes.
