Brown established himself as one of the nation's premier collegiate wrestlers during his career, earning two NCAA All-American honors. He placed fifth at the 1980 NCAA Championships before returning the following year to finish eighth in 1981. His consecutive All-American performances showcased his consistency at the highest level of collegiate wrestling and cemented his place among the sport's elite competitors.

His success extended beyond the national stage. Brown captured the NCAA Eastern Regional Championship multiple times, further demonstrating his dominance within one of the nation's most competitive wrestling regions.
