BALTIMORE, Md. (June 18, 2026) -- Morgan State men's basketball has added another experienced piece to its 2026-27 roster with the signing of transfer forward Khalil Horton, head coach Kevin Broadus announced.
A native of Erie, Pennsylvania, Horton joins the Bears after spending the past three seasons at crosstown rival Coppin State, where he established himself as a versatile two-way player and one of the Eagles' most dependable perimeter threats.
"Khalil is offensively versatile and will be a defensive presence for us," said Broadus. "He fits our playing style exceptionally well because of his intensity, competitiveness, and ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor. We're excited to welcome him to the Morgan family."
Horton arrives at The National Treasure with significant collegiate experience, having appeared in 75 career games at Coppin State University, including 47 starts over the past two seasons.
As a junior during the 2025-26 campaign, Horton played in all 31 games while making a team-high 24 starts. He averaged 7.4 points and 2.1 rebounds per game while recording 27 assists, six blocks, and a team-best 21 steals. Horton connected on 35.0 percent of his field-goal attempts and shot 36.2 percent from three-point range, knocking down a team-high 46 triples. He also converted 72.9 percent of his free throws.
Horton reached double figures in scoring 10 times during the season, highlighted by a season-high 19-point effort against Maryland in the season opener. He also scored 18 points and buried five three-pointers at Georgetown.
During his sophomore season in 2024-25, Horton started 23 of 29 games and averaged 7.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest. He added 23 assists, 19 steals, and a team-high 12 blocked shots while averaging 23.4 minutes per game. Horton scored a career-high 28 points against Morgan State and finished the season shooting 33.6 percent from the field and 70.0 percent from the free-throw line.
Horton saw action in 15 games as a freshman in 2023-24, averaging 4.7 points and 1.3 rebounds while contributing seven assists, four steals, and three blocks.
Prior to his collegiate career, Horton attended three different high schools and concluded his prep career at Keystone Academy, where he earned Second Team Non-PIAA All-State honors after averaging 13.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.
Before Keystone Academy, Horton spent his junior season at Legacy Early College in South Carolina. As a sophomore at Cathedral Prep, he helped lead the program to a PIAA Class 5A State Championship while averaging 14.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. He earned All-State, All-Region, and All-District recognition and delivered 25 points and eight rebounds in the state championship game.
