From Bear to Pro: Marland Harris Takes His Talents Overseas, Signs Pro Contract in Macedonia

    BALTIMORE, Md. (August 13, 2026) -- Former Morgan State men's basketball student-athlete Marland Harris (6-9, 215) has signed his first professional contract, joining KK Strumica of North Macedonia's Liga Prva (Macedonian First League).

The contract marks the next chapter in the career of the veteran post player, who made an immediate impact during his time with the Bears as a physical presence in the frontcourt and one of the team's top defenders.

During the 2025-26 season, Harris saw action in 20 games and led the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) with 30 blocked shots.

Harris shot 54.7 percent (29-of-53) from the field and 69 percent (20-of-29) from the free-throw line. He recorded a pair of standout performances during the season, including a double-double against Maryland Eastern Shore on Feb. 7, when he scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, along with four blocks.

At Norfolk State on Jan. 26, Harris recorded a season-high 14 rebounds and six blocked shots, showcasing his defensive presence and ability to control the glass.

Before arriving at Morgan State, Harris, an Inglewood, Calif. Native, played at West Los Angeles College, where he earned a degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences – Behavioral & Social Sciences.

Harris helped lead the West LA Wildcats to a successful campaign while establishing himself as one of the program's top interior players. He averaged 11.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game while shooting 53 percent from the field.

During the 2022-23 season, Harris appeared in 22 games and helped the Wildcats post a 19-11 overall record and a 10-4 conference mark. He averaged 8.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game and led the team as a freshman with 38 blocked shots.

Harris starred at Westchester Enriched Science & Magnets, where he was a two-time First Team All-League selection.
 
He helped lead Westchester to a 2020 CIF Basketball Championship and was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year, establishing the defensive-minded identity that would become a hallmark of his collegiate career.

Harris now begins the next stage of his basketball journey in North Macedonia, becoming the latest former Bear to continue his career on the professional level overseas.
