BALTIMORE, Md. (August 27, 2026) -- The Morgan State men's basketball team has announced its complete 2026-27 non-conference schedule, featuring 15 games against a challenging slate of opponents, including six contests at Hill Field House and highly anticipated road matchups against Maryland and Auburn.
The Bears will open the 2026-27 campaign at home against Cheyney University on Monday, Nov. 2, beginning a non-conference schedule designed to challenge Morgan State early and prepare the Bears for Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play.
The schedule includes a mix of regional rivals and nationally recognized programs, with matchups against UMBC, Towson, North Carolina A&T, Cornell, George Mason, Maryland and Auburn.
Morgan State enters the season looking to build around a revamped roster following the graduation of All-MEAC performers Alfred Worrell Jr. and Elijah Davis. Worrell averaged 17.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game and was named a BOXTOROW All-American, while Davis averaged 13.8 points, 5.9 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per contest.
Head coach Kevin Broadus, the reigning MEAC Coach of the Year, will rely on a combination of returning experience and newcomers to fill the void left by the productive backcourt duo as the Bears navigate a challenging non-conference slate.
Following the season opener against Cheyney, Morgan State will return to action at home against Virginia University of Lynchburg on Wednesday, Nov. 4. The Bears then begin a four-game road stretch, starting with Niagara on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Morgan State will compete in a pair of regional matchups as part of the inaugural 410 Invitational, powered by Under Armour, a planned multi-year event featuring men's and women's basketball teams from Morgan State, UMBC, Towson and Loyola in a rotating tournament format. Towson will host this year's championship round.
The inaugural 410 Invitational tips off Thursday, Nov. 12, with the men's competition featuring Loyola at Towson and Morgan State at UMBC. The Bears will then return to action on Saturday, Nov. 14, with the championship or consolation game.
Morgan State will then travel to Greensboro, N.C., on Wednesday, Nov. 18, to face North Carolina A&T, looking to earn its first victory over the Aggies since 2017.
The Bears return to Baltimore for a four-game homestand beginning with Cornell on Saturday, Nov. 21, followed by a matchup against Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Morgan State will face Manhattan on Saturday, Dec. 5, before closing out its home non-conference schedule against Mercyhurst. The Bears will look to snap a lengthy drought against Manhattan dating back to Dec. 7, 2016, when Tiwian Kendley scored 40 points to lead Morgan State to an 85-82 double-overtime victory over the Jaspers.
The Bears will then hit the road for the remainder of the non-conference schedule, beginning with a Dec. 8 matchup at George Mason in Fairfax, Va.
Morgan State will travel to College Park for a highly anticipated meeting with the University of Maryland. The Bears' last victory over the Terrapins came on Jan. 7, 2008, when Morgan State defeated Maryland, 66-65, at Comcast Center. Reggie Holmes led the Bears with a game-high 25 points in the historic victory.
The non-conference slate continues with a Dec. 22 road matchup at Longwood in Farmville, Va.

Morgan State will close out the 2026 calendar year with one of its most challenging tests, traveling to Neville Arena in Auburn, Ala., to face Auburn on Tuesday, Dec. 29. It will mark the first meeting between the Bears and Tigers.
The Bears' 15-game non-conference schedule provides an early test for a young and talented Morgan State squad while offering opportunities to compete against a diverse group of opponents before the start of MEAC play.
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference will announce the complete 2026-27 conference schedule in September.
