Former Morgan State Standout Stanley Davis Jr. Named CEBL Sixth Man of the Year Finalist

  BALTIMORE, Md. (August 13, 2026) -- Former Morgan State men's basketball standout Stanley Davis Jr. continues to make his mark on the professional basketball stage, earning recognition as a finalist for the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) Sixth Man of the Year award following an impressive first season with the Edmonton Stingers.

Davis Jr., a 6-foot-5 guard and 2020 Morgan State graduate, has emerged as one of Edmonton's most productive and versatile contributors during the 2026 CEBL season. The Chester, Pennsylvania native is ranked second on the Stingers in scoring (13.7 points per game) and third in both assists (3.5) and steals (1.5) across 20 games, while shooting 47 per cent from the field.

The former Bear has delivered several standout performances throughout the season, including back-to-back 17-point efforts against the Mamba and Saskatchewan. Against the Mamba, Davis Jr. added four rebounds and six assists in just 24 minutes before following up with another 17-point, four-rebound and six-assist performance against Saskatchewan.

His production has continued a strong professional career that has taken him across Europe and into Canada. Before joining Edmonton, Davis Jr. played professionally in Portugal, Bosnia, Georgia, the United Kingdom and North Macedonia. In May, the Stingers announced his signing after he averaged 17.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game with TFT Skopje in North Macedonia.

Davis Jr.'s professional success builds on a standout collegiate career at Morgan State. During his senior season in 2019-20, he averaged 13.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists over 30 games and earned All-MEAC Third Team honors.
 
Known as "Bazz," Davis Jr. developed into a dependable two-way guard during his time in the Blue and Orange, combining his scoring ability with athleticism, playmaking, and defensive intensity. Those same qualities have translated to the professional level and helped establish him as a key piece of the Stingers' rotation.

"Stanley is a player the Stingers faithful can get excited about," Edmonton Head Coach and President Jordan Baker said when the team announced Davis Jr.'s signing. "He is a dynamic playmaker who excels in transition and who can score in a variety of ways. He is an experienced professional who will be joining the CEBL for the first time this summer and looking to make a name for himself in Edmonton."

Davis Jr.'s recognition adds to a growing list of professional accomplishments for former Morgan State men's basketball players, who continue to represent the Bears in leagues across the globe. His CEBL campaign has further highlighted the continued development and professional impact of Morgan State basketball alumni.

For Davis Jr., the CEBL honor represents another milestone in a professional journey that began after his standout career in Baltimore and continues to carry the Blue and Orange onto international courts.
