BALTIMORE, Md. (May 7, 2026) — Morgan State men's basketball has received a significant boost with the addition of transfer Darian Grant, who joins head coach Kevin Broadus' 2026 recruiting class.
A versatile 6-foot-5, 215-pound wing from Moore, Oklahoma, Grant arrives after a strong sophomore campaign at Northern Oklahoma–Enid. He earned 2025–26 NJCAA Division I All-Tournament Team honors while helping lead his team to an Elite Eight appearance.
Before his success at junior college, Grant made a name for himself at Moore High School, where he led the Lions to an 18–6 record in the 2023–24 season and earned Oklahoma Coaches Association (OCA) All-State honors. Under head coach Gregg Hardin, Moore competed in Class 6A District 1 and posted a 10–5 district record.
During his standout prep career, Grant compiled an impressive list of accolades, including 2024 OCA All-State and OCA All-Star (Class 6A) honors, First Team All-District recognition, OBCA All-Region 5 selection, and Vype Magazine Regional Player of the Year. He was also a two-time First Team All-COAC Conference selection (2023, 2024) and earned COAC Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2023.
A 1,000-point career scorer, Grant helped lead Moore to multiple postseason runs, including a state runner-up finish in 2022, a quarterfinal appearance in 2023, and an area finals berth in 2024. The Lions captured area championships in 2022 and 2023, along with regional titles in 2022, 2023, and 2024. He also earned multiple MVP and All-Tournament Team honors, including selections at the Tahlequah and John Nobles tournaments.
As a senior, Grant averaged 18.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, showcasing his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.
Grant also spent the 2024–25 season at Harding University, where he appeared in 16 games as a freshman before transferring to Northern Oklahoma–Enid.
"Darian is a tough, physical wing who brings versatility and a winning mindset to our program," said head coach Kevin Broadus. "He's proven he can compete at a high level, score the basketball, and impact the game in multiple ways. We're excited about what he brings to our culture and the direction we're heading."
Grant brings a physical presence and high-level versatility to the Bears' backcourt. Known for his high basketball IQ, he is a proven shot-maker who thrives in key moments. He finishes through contact, rebounds effectively in traffic, and demonstrates strong decision-making as a passer.
He joins a Morgan State team that concluded the 2025–26 season with a 14–16 overall record, including an impressive 10–4 mark in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Bears finished among the league's top contenders before falling in the MEAC Tournament quarterfinals.
With several key contributors departing, Morgan State enters the offseason focused on retooling its roster and developing the next wave of talent. Grant's addition is expected to play a key role in that transition.
