BALTIMORE, Md. (Aug. 9, 2023) – The Morgan State men's basketball program added JUCO transfer
Xavier Valley who will be eligible for the 2023-24 season.
"Xavier brings top notch shooting to our program," said Morgan head coach Kevin Broadus. "As a 6-foot-8 forward, he also brings a skill set we need. We are lucky to be able to get him."
The 6-foot-8, 205-pound rising junior forward joins the Bears as a transfer from Cowley College. The Tigers went 16-15 under Head Coach Donnie Jackson before losing to Cloud County CC in the NJCAA Region VI Tournament.
Valley, a product of Atlanta, Ga., played in 26 games for the Tigers last season, averaging 7.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game while shooting 39% from the field, 37% from 3-point range, and 78% from the free throw line. He started 25 of 32 games as a freshman during the 2021-22 season, averaging 9.6 points and 3.7 rebounds.
Valley signed to play for Northwest Florida State College before transferring to Cowley College.
Valley served as team captain for North Clayton High School's (College Park, Ga.) state playoff team as a senior. The four-year varsity starter averaged 15 points per game.
Valley will join a Morgan State squad coming off of a 15-16 campaign in which they went 7-7 in MEAC play to reach the conference tournament. The Bears were tough at home in Baltimore, going 10-2 at Hill Field House.

Will Thomas (8.9 ppg). The Bears lost five seniors
Isaiah Burke (18.7 ppg),
Malik Miller (17.5 ppg),
Lewis Djonkam (7.9 ppg),
Ty Horner (2.6) and
Collin Nnamene (2.2 ppg).
