BALTIMORE, Md. (April 18, 2023) – Saint Francis (Pa.) transfer Myles Thompson has signed to play basketball for Morgan State University, head coach Kevin Broadus has announced.
"Myles brings the scoring ability we desperately need from the wing spot," said Broadus. "In addition to his scoring punch, he also rebounds and defends."
"Myles has been a proven scorer on the high school and college level," Broadus added. "He's been through the battles at the highest level and will play a significant role in our program."
Thompson, a 6-foot-7, 245-pound Camden, New Jersey, native was a fixture in the Red Flash's lineup. He averaged more than 10 points per game each of the past three seasons and accounted for 456 total rebounds (4.3 rpg).
Thompson, who was just 52 points shy of 1,000 for his Red Flash career, was sidelined last season as a result of a groin injury.
For his high school career, Thompson was a three-year letterwinner on the Camden boys basketball team. He averaged a double-double in his final two seasons, including 16.5 points and 11.6 rebounds. Thompson was named to the New Jersey All-Group 2 second team during his senior season as he helped lead his team to a 21-6 record and No. 13 ranking.
Thompson joins an MSU team that returns veteran guards Kamron Hobbs (8.4 ppg) and Will Thomas (8.9 ppg). The Bears lost five seniors Isaiah Burke (18.7 ppg), Malik Miller (17.5 ppg), Lewis Djonkam (7.9 ppg), Ty Horner (2.6) and Collin Nnamene (2.2 ppg).
In his fourth season at MSU, Broadus led the Bears to a 15-16 overall record, and placed fifth in the MEAC standings with an 8-7 record before falling in the MEAC Tournament quarterfinals game.
