2025–26 Morgan State Men’s Basketball Season Recap

The Morgan State Bears men's basketball closed out the 2025–26 season with a 14–16 overall record and an impressive 10–4 mark in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, finishing among the league's top contenders. Under the leadership of head coach Kevin Broadus, the Bears showcased resilience, growth, and one of the conference's most dynamic backcourts.

Season Record & Performance
  • The Bears finished the season with a 14-16 overall record, including a 10-4 mark in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play.
  • Morgan State opened the year with a challenging non-conference schedule, facing road tests against the Georgetown Hoyas, Mercyhurst Lakers, DePaul Blue Demons, California Golden Bears, San Francisco Dons, and Loyola Marymount Lions— matchups that provided valuable early-season experience and helped prepare the Bears for conference play.
  • The Bears were predicted to finish fourth place in the MEAC preseason polls. Morgan State finished the regular season in 2nd place.

SEASON IN REVIEW
Morgan State faced a challenging nonconference schedule that tested the team early, but the Bears found their stride once MEAC play began. Over the course of the conference season, Morgan State emerged as one of the league's most consistent teams, thanks to strong guard play and improved defensive execution, racking up 10 conference wins.
The Bears' ability to compete in close games and execute down the stretch became a defining characteristic, helping them secure a top position in the MEAC standings.

ALL-AMERICAN & ALL-MEAC LEADERSHIP
The Bears were powered by standout guards Alfred Worrell Jr. and Elijah Davis, who formed one of the most effective backcourts in the conference.

Both players earned BOXTOROW All-America honors after leading Morgan State offensively and providing veteran leadership throughout the season. In addition, Worrell Jr. and Davis were each named to the All-MEAC Second Team, recognizing their impact as two of the league's top performers.

Worrell Jr. served as a consistent scoring threat throughout the year, while Davis controlled the tempo and created opportunities for teammates, anchoring the Bears' offensive attack.

MEAC TOURNAMENT
Morgan State entered the MEAC Men's Basketball Tournament as the No. 2 seed with momentum and high expectations, but its postseason run came to a dramatic close in the quarterfinals.

FROM COACH KEVIN BROADUS

"I thought the season ended well, and I'm proud of our guys. We didn't finish the way we wanted to, but I'm proud that those guys played and fought to the very end. Our non-conference schedule was tough, but once we got into conference play, we consistently stayed between first and third place and ultimately finished second. That says a lot about the resilience and competitiveness of this team."

LOOKING AHEAD
With several key contributors departing from the 2025–26 roster, Morgan State will enter the offseason focused on retooling and developing the next wave of talent. Despite those losses, the Bears aim to build on the foundation established this season and maintain the level of success they achieved in MEAC play.

As they prepare for the 2026–27 campaign, Morgan State will look to blend returning experience with emerging contributors, aiming to remain competitive and continue their pursuit of a conference championship.
