Harris Named to NABC Honors Court

BALTIMORE, Md. (July 23, 2025)Marland Harris of the Morgan State men's basketball team has earned prestigious recognition for his exemplary academic performance, securing a spot on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court for the 2024-25 academic year.

The NABC Honors Court comprises junior, senior, and graduate student men's basketball players who completed the 2024-25 season with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Harris, a product of Inglewood, California, started in five of the 14 games played for the Bears. He averaged 4.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 13.9 minutes.  His scoring efficiency was a highlight, as he shot an impressive 57 percent from the field, converting 24 of his 42 attempts. Beyond his offensive output, Harris showcased his defensive capabilities by accumulating 15 blocked shots and securing seven steals, demonstrating his presence on both ends of the court.

Before his promising season was unfortunately cut short by injury, Harris showcased his potential during a highly productive stretch in December. On December 4th, against Cheney-Pa., he efficiently contributed 10 points in just 10 minutes, along with four rebounds and two blocks. Just six days later, on December 10th, Harris demonstrated his rebounding prowess at Xavier, where he pulled down a season-high 10 rebounds in 22 minutes, alongside eight points. He continued his strong play on December 15th against Campbell, posting nine points on an impressive 4-of-5 shooting from the field, coupled with seven boards in 26 minutes.

In the classroom, he achieved a 3.20 GPA while pursuing a degree in Applied Liberal Studies.

This significant honor underscores his commitment to excellence not only on the basketball court, but also in the classroom, demonstrating a successful balance of rigorous athletic demands with scholarly pursuits.

The NABC's annual academic awards program highlights the importance of academic achievement among men's basketball student-athletes. More than 2,400 players from all levels of college basketball earned Honors Court recognition for 2024-25.

"Education is one of the NABC's five core values, and we are proud to recognize the academic accomplishments of these programs and individual student-athletes across our sport," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "The dedication and hard work of these athletes, along with their coaches and support staff members who prioritize academic success, deserves to be widely celebrated."
