The Lone Star State Gets a Rising Star

Kameron Hobbs Takes the HBCU All-Star Stage on April 6th

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 19, 2025) —  Morgan State's Kameron Hobbs' selection to the HBCU All-Star Game is a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding performance this past season. Hobbs emerged as a dominant force in the MEAC, consistently showcasing his scoring prowess and solidifying his reputation as one of the conference's premier guards.

This opportunity will allow Hobbs to showcase his talents on a national stage and compete alongside some of the best players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the country.

The announcement marks a significant milestone in Hobbs' career and is a testament to the hard work he's poured into this season. An emotion-filled Hobbs expressed his gratitude and inspiration in a recent interview.

"It feels amazing," Hobbs said, beaming. "All the hard work I've put in this season is finally getting recognized, and I know God's had my back. It just feels really good."

Hobbs, recently named a BOXTOROW HBCU First Team All-American, averaged 16.5 points (No. 6 in MEAC), 3.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season. He led the Bears in scoring and minutes per game (31.8 mpg) and shot 45 percent from the field (No. 7) and shot 36 percent from beyond the arc.

His consistency on the offensive end has been nothing short of remarkable this season. Evidenced by scoring in double-figures a staggering 26 times, including a current streak of 21 consecutive games. Furthermore, he elevates his game to another level, reaching the 20-point threshold in 16 contests. Highlighting his ability to take over games when needed, most notably a dominant 33-point explosion against #4 seeded Howard in a crucial MEAC Quarterfinals victory last Thursday.

Beyond the personal accomplishment, Hobbs also acknowledged the influence of those who paved the way before him, specifically referencing former teammate Isaiah Burke.

"My first year, [Isaiah] Burke made it. He was the captain when I got here, so I looked up to him. I wanted to do what he did because he showed me what success looks like. Getting some of the same recognition he did lets me know I'm on the right path."

The excitement of the NCAA Final Four weekend in San Antonio will be amplified this year with the addition of the HBCU All-Star Games, a celebration of talent and tradition from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Freeman Coliseum will serve as the battleground on April 6th, where the best players from HBCU basketball programs will showcase their skills on a national stage.
