BALTIMORE, Md. (March 17, 2025) -- Redshirt senior Kameron Hobbs of the Morgan State University men's basketball team has achieved a significant accolade, earning a spot on the 2024-25 BOXTOROW First Team All-American list, announced Monday. This prestigious recognition highlights Hobbs' outstanding performance and contribution to the Bears' basketball program throughout the season.
Earning his first All-American honor this season marks a significant milestone for the Stockbridge, Ga. native. This recognition follows a remarkable trajectory that saw him not only exceed expectations but also electrify his conference. Having initially been projected to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Third Team in the preseason, the Hobbs' performance propelled him to a well-deserved spot on the MEAC First Team.
Hobbs averaged 16.5 points (No. 6 in MEAC), 3.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season. He led the Bears in scoring and minutes per game (31.8 mpg) and shot 45 percent from the field (No. 7) and shot 36 percent from beyond the arc.
His consistency on the offensive end has been nothing short of remarkable this season. Evidenced by scoring in double-figures a staggering 25 times, including a current streak of 21 consecutive games. Furthermore, he elevates his game to another level, reaching the 20-point threshold in 16 contests. Highlighting his ability to take over games when needed, most notably a dominant 33-point explosion against #4 seeded Howard in a crucial MEAC Quarterfinals victory last Thursday.
Hobbs capped off a remarkable season, amassing an impressive 527 points and solidifying his place as a dominant force on the court. This stellar performance propelled him to a career total of 1,101 points during his time at Morgan, earning him the No. 26 spot on the school's prestigious all-time scoring list. Beyond his overall scoring prowess, Hobbs also proved to be a sharpshooter from beyond the arc. His 150 career 3-pointers landed him at No. 6 on the school's all-time list for 3-point field goals made, showcasing his versatility and impact as a scorer.
This is the second honor in a week for Hobbs, a testament to his outstanding performance and contributions to his team. Just days prior, he earned a spot on the MEAC All-Tournament Team on Saturday. His efforts were instrumental in leading the Bears to the MEAC Tournament Semifinals, solidifying his reputation as a key player and a force to be reckoned with on the court.
This All-American nod now solidifies his status as one of the top players in the nation and a testament to his hard work and dedication throughout the season.
Fourteen schools are represented on this year's BOXTOROW All-America teams. BOXTOROW has administered the All-America team since 2009.
