Pro Basketball Player DeWayne Jackson Signs with New Club In Bahrain

BALTIMORE, Md. (August 31, 2021) -- DeWayne Jackson continues his professional basketball career in the Middle East with a new club in Bahrain.
 
The former Morgan State Bear has signed with Al-Muharraq of Bahrain's Premier League for the 2021-22 season. 
 
Jackson, 30, played most recently at Ahly Tripoli in Libyan D1 league. He helped them win the league title and the cup. As a result of his standout performance during the season, he was awarded Afrobasket.com All-Libyan League Import Player of the Year and was selected to the All-Imports Team.

During the previous season (2019-20) he played at Al Sharjah (also in D1) in UAE. Jackson contributed to his team winning the league title. He also played for Sigal Prishtina in Kosovan Superliga where in three games he recorded 11 ppg, 3 rpg and 1.7 apg. He also had a short stint playing for Homentmen (LBL) in the Lebanese league. In four games he averaged impressive 16.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg and 3.0 apg.



Jackson has managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America) during his pro career. Jackson has played previously professionally in Bulgaria (Beroe), Lebanon (Sagesse and Champville) and The Basketball Tournament (HBC Sicklerville).

The scouts describe him the following way: Jackson is one of the fastest, strongest, and best ball handling wings in Europe. Jackson has high stats in every category, and with his height, cannot be guarded 1-on-1 on perimeter. He is also able to shoot from 3 consistently, and can defend at any position.Very similar style of game with Kevin Durant.


 
The 2013 All-MEAC First Team selection helped lead Morgan State to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament title game, it marked the Bears' fifth appearance in seven years. He ranked 7th in the MEAC in scoring (13.8), led the team in steals (1.7 spg), and averaged 5.6 rebounds per game.
 
The Bowie product completed the regular season by scoring in double-figures 27 times in 30 games played, including a season-high 32 points against the Virginia Cavaliers. As a senior, he was also a member of the MEAC All-Tournament team and was selected the BoxToRow All-American second team.
 
Jackson, who was the 2010 MEAC Rookie of the Year, has the distinction of being the only player in school history to have the combination of over 1,500 points (1,596 – No. 5), 500 rebounds (562 – No. 12), 150 steals (173 – No. 2) and 150 assists (186).
