MSU SET FOR SEASON OPENER AT #6 VIRGINIA
The Morgan State Bears open the 2015-16 campaign on the road against the Virginia Cavaliers on Friday, Nov. 13th. It will mark the third basketball meeting between the teams. Tip-off at John Paul Jones Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast by ESPN3. The game will also be radio broadcast by the Heritage Sports Radio Network.
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
• The Cavaliers welcomed back 10 letterwinners and three starters, from a squad that posted a 30-4 overall record, and captured the ACC championship with a 16-2 mark. UVa also advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
• Virginia is ranked No. 6 in the USA Today Coaches preseason poll. They are one of four ACC teams in the polls.
• Tony Bennett (Green Bay '92) enters his 7th season as the Cavaliers head men's basketball coach. He currently holds a 136-64 record at UVa, and is 205-97 in his nine year career as a head coach.
• Malcolm Brogdon returns to the Cavs for his redshirt senior season. The 6-5, 215 pound guard averaged 14.0 ppg and 3.9 rpg a season ago. Brogdon will be joined by returning starters Anthony Gill (11.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg) and London Perranter (6.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg).Â
THE SERIES
• Friday marks the third meeting in the series. The Cavaliers hold a 2-0 advantage in the series vs. MSU.
• In Todd Bozeman's first season at the helm, MSU was topped by the Cavaliers, 85-66, on Nov. 19, 2006 at John Paul Jones Arena. The Bears trailed by just 12 at halftime (42-30), but the Cavs ended up shooting 56 percent (14-25 FG) in the second half as the Bears fell to Virginia in the first ever matchup between the schools.Â
• In their last meeting, the Bears dropped a 75-57 decision at UVa. on Dec. 19, 2012. DeWayne Jackson scored a game-high 32 points, but the Cavs withstood a late surge by the Bears to coast to victory. Jackson's 32 points tied the record for an opponent at John Paul Jones Arena.

The Bears will travel to face the Towson Tigers in a cross-town matchup on Monday, Nov. 16. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

BEWARE THE BEAR
Under the direction of Todd Bozeman, Morgan State has collected a couple of memorable wins against big-time opponents. The Bears have recorded historic wins against: Long Island (2009); Manhattan (2009); Arkansas (2009); DePaul (2008); and Maryland (2009).
COMFORTABLE AT HILL FIELD HOUSEÂ
Todd Bozeman has won at least 10 home games in three of his eight seasons in Baltimore. The 2007-08 (12-1) and 2009-10 (11-1) squads finished with just a single loss, while the 2010-11 squad went 10-2. Bozeman has led the Bears to a 71-30 (.693) overall home record at Hill Field House.

BOZEMAN ADDS THREE TO STAFF
Morgan State head basketball coach Todd Bozeman has added three hires to the coaching staff for the 2015-16 season. Named to the Bears coaching staff are assistant coaches Brian Ellerbe, Larry Stewart, and Hans Desir.
MSU PICKED SEVENTH; BLOSSOMÂ SELECTED TO PRESEASON ALL-MEACÂ TEAM
Morgan State was picked seventh in the annual MEAC Preseason Poll and senior forward Cedric Blossom was selected to the Preseason All-MEAC Team.
HOME GROWNÂ
Morgan State has five (5) players from the DMV (D.C., Maryland & Metropolitan-D.C.) area, including two from Baltimore. Senior Senior Donte Pretlow (Dunbar High) and redshirt junior Cliff Cornish (North County) are both from Baltimore. Senior Cedric Blossom (Montrose Christian) is from Columbia and senior Andrew Hampton is from Germantown (Seneca Valley), while freshman Anthony Tate (Takoma Academy) is from Fort Washington.Â

BOZEMAN AMONG TOP WIN PERCENTAGE AMONG MORGAN STATE COACHES
Todd Bozeman, now in his 10th season as head coach of the Bears, has an overall win percentage of .517 (150-140) after 290 games at Morgan State. That winning mean is the second highest among 15 head coaches in the history of the Morgan State men's basketball program. Nathaniel Frazier's winning percentage of .578 (166-121) is the highest percentage in Morgan State history.
