Men's Cross Country Takes on Richmond Invitational

Results

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (Oct. 2, 2026) – The Morgan State men's cross country team competed Friday at the Richmond Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond, earning a 14th-place finish on a sunny morning at Pole Green Park.

The Bears finished the 8K course with 411 points. High Point captured the team title with 55 points, followed by Duke with 59 points and George Washington with 83 points. Davidson rounded out the top four with 102 points.

"Today was a true test for us as a young team, both men and women," said Morgan State head coach Neville Hodge. "However, we showed up and competed. We learned a lot about who we are as a team, and we know we have to focus on finishing a lot stronger as we prepare for our next meet and ultimately the MEAC Cross Country Championship. We did have some highlights on both the men's and women's teams."

Sophomore Natnael Gebremariam led the Bears across the finish line, placing 49th overall with a time of 26:37.2.

Freshman Isaiah Smith followed with a time of 29:39.2, finishing 117th, while freshman Shondell Warren placed 123rd with a time of 30:17.5. Cyrus Noel Jr. also recorded a time of 30:17.5.

Sophomore Kennan Frisby finished 129th in 31:02.5, followed by freshman Lael Espinal, who placed 133rd with a time of 31:30.9. Junior Samuel Skinner crossed the finish line in 32:20.4, good for 136th place.

Freshman Jaxon Collins rounded out the Bears' lineup, finishing 143rd with a time of 33:50.5.

Morgan State will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 17, when the Bears travel to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to compete in the Aubrey Shenk Invitational, hosted by Gettysburg College.
