BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 28, 2026) -- The Morgan State men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete at the 2026 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Championships on Friday, Oct. 30, at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.
The Bears enter the conference championship following an encouraging performance at the Joe Handelman '52 Fall Classic, hosted by Princeton University, as they look to carry their momentum into the final meet of the season.
Leading the way for Morgan State are two of the program's top performers, Crystal Coke on the women's side and Natnael Gebremariam for the men. Both runners have been key contributors throughout the season and will look to deliver strong performances against the conference's top distance runners.
Coke has paced the women's squad with consistent performances, while Gebremariam has been a leading presence for the men's team. Their efforts will be important as the Bears look to challenge the MEAC field and finish the season on a strong note.
Morgan State will rely on a collective team effort, with each runner's finish contributing to the overall team standings. With the conference title on the line, the Bears will look to build on their regular-season performances and make their presence felt on the championship course.
Hosted by North Carolina Central University, the 2026 MEAC Cross Country Championships will feature all eight MEAC men's and women's cross country programs. The men's 8k race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., followed by the women's 5k race at noon.
The entire championship will be streamed live on MEAC Network, with coverage featuring the races, interviews, and the post-race awards ceremony.
As part of the conference's community service initiatives, the MEAC will also host a Cancer Awareness 5K Run/Walk on Friday, Oct. 30, at WakeMed Soccer Park.
