CLEARWATER, Fla. (Feb. 10, 2025)--Morgan State sophomore outfielder
Amber Rivas was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I Leadoff Classic All-Tournament Team. The team was announced following the conclusion of Sunday's games.

Rivas posted a .385 batting average over the weekend, recording five hits with one double, three RBI and a run scored in five games. She also tallied a walk and two stolen bases.

A native of West Hills, Calif., Rivas recorded an RBI, walk and stolen base to help Morgan State defeat Notre Dame, 4-3 in the season opener. It was the program's first victory over an opponent of the newly constructed Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
She recorded her first hit of the season, which was a double and an RBI against Pittsburgh. Rivas then went 2-for-3 at the plate against Bethune-Cookman and closed out the tournament with another 2-for-3 performance with a run and RBI and a stolen base in the finale against Marshall.

Joining Rivas on the all-tournament team were: Halyne Gonzalez (Bethune-Cookman), Cassidy Curd (Duke), Tatianna Roman (Iowa), Emma Friedel (Kennesaw State), Peyton Plotts (Kentucky), Paige Simpson (Marshall), Raelin Chaffin (Mississippi State), Stefania Abruscato (Missouri), Jordy Bahl (Nebraska), Kaylie Avvisato (Northwestern), Micaela Kastor (Notre Dame), Brooke Klosowicz (Penn State), Saleyna Daniel (Pittsburgh), Jana Lee (Southern Miss.), Taylor Pannell (Tennessee) and NiJaree Canady (Texas Tech).
