BALTIMORE, Md. (March 28, 2026)--The Lady Bears softball team returned home on Saturday afternoon to begin its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) series against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Morgan State would defeat the Hawks, 4-1 at Lois T. Murray Field.

The win was the eighth straight victory for Morgan State over UMES, as the Lady Bears improved to 14-1 at home against the Haws since the 2010 season.

UMES (9-21, 1-6 MEAC) got on the board first when Lola Meyer singled to center field to score Gabriella Beltran, giving the guests a 1-0.

That would be all the scoring for the visitors, as Morgan State finally got going in the fourth inning when
Alison Keener singled in
Olivia Pagano and
Dejah Jones also scored on a fielding error by the Hawks' right fielder to give the Lady Bears a 2-1 lead.
Â
Morgan State (6-17, 3-4 MEAC) rounded out the scoring with its final two runs coming in the fifth inning.
Olivia Garner scored from third and
Millie Cousins followed with a double to center field to score
Cassie White for the fourth and final run of the game for Morgan State.

The Lady Bears finished the game with seven hits, as six players recorded a hit. Morgan was paced by Pagano, who went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run score.

Cousins picked up her team-leading fifth win in the circle. She would go the distance giving up a run on seven hits, a walk and struck out a game-high five batters in seven innings of work.

UMES, which also finished with seven hits, was led by Skylar Skinner and Meyer, who each totaled two hits.
Â
Morgan State and UMES will conclude the series with a doubleheader on Sunday, beginning at 12 noon.
