Softball To Host UMES In Weekend MEAC Series

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 27, 2026)--Morgan State will look for its third consecutive multiple game series victory when it welcomes the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) to Lois T. Murray Field this weekend. The three-game Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) series gets underway on Saturday, March 28 with a single game at 3 p.m. for Alumni Appreciation, before concluding with a doubleheader on Sunday, March 29 beginning at 12 noon.
 
Last week at home the Lady Bears won their first MEAC series of the season, after winning two of three games against North Carolina Central. Earlier in the week Morgan State swept a road doubleheader at North Carolina A&T for its first series win this season.
 
Morgan State (5-17, 2-4 MEAC) enters this weekend coming off a hard fought 8-7 loss at George Washington on Wednesday afternoon in Washington, D.C.
 
Maryland Eastern Shore (9-20, 1-5 MEAC) is coming off a 5-3 non-conference victory at Hampton to split the doubleheader on Tuesday.
 
MSU-UMES SERIES NOTES: Morgan State holds a 52-15 series lead over the Hawks dating back to the 2004 season. The Lady Bears have won the last seven meetings against UMES, including last season's series sweep in Princess Anne, Md. Morgan State also carries a 13-1 mark at home against the Hawks. UMES's last victory over Morgan State was an 11-7 win in Norfolk, Va., which eliminated the top-seeded Lady Bears from the 2023 MEAC Softball Championship.
