BALTIMORE, Md. (May 14, 2023)--Morgan State junior pitcher
Anaya Hunte was named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) All-Tournament Team on Saturday evening, following the conclusion of the 2023 MEAC Softball Championship at NSU Softball Field in Norfolk, Va.

Jaden Davis of North Carolina Central (NCCU) was named the tournament's Outstanding Performer, while NCCU head coach Cat Tarvin was named Outstanding Coach.

A native of Burlington, N.J., Hunte appeared in two games, making one start during the tournament. She tallied 10 strikeouts, while surrendering two runs over four hits in 9.0 complete innings pitched.

Hunte started in the Lady Bears' quarterfinal contest against Coppin State and struck out six while allowing two runs on four hits in 7.0 innings. In the matchup against Maryland Eastern Shore, she pitched two innings in relief and recorded four strikeouts. Â Â

A two-time MEAC Pitcher of the Year and a First-Team All-MEAC selection (2022, 23), Hunte finished the season recording a team-best 15 wins (15-9) and totaled 137 strikeouts in 157.2 innings pitched. Â

Joining Hunte on the MEAC All-Tournament Team was Vanessa Carrizosa and Seryna Esparza of Coppin State, Amelia Weber and Mia Gonzales of Howard, Ameenah Ballenger and Katelyn Smitchko of Maryland Eastern Shore, Gabby Vaughn of Norfolk State, Jaden Davis, Morgan Green and Ashanti Eubanks of North Carolina Central. Â
