BALTIMORE, Md. (April 22, 2023) -- Junior standout
John Purvis of Morgan State men's track and field program notched first place in the shot put on Saturday, which highlighted the Bears performances at the annual Morgan State Legacy Track Meet at Hughes Stadium.
The Bears finished the meet with nine top 10 finishes.
It was a special day for Morgan State, who honored its senior class prior to the start of the 800-meter dash.
How it Happened
● Adrian Holley ran a 10.55 to place fifth in the 100m dash.
● Jadon Ra-Akbar ran a 14.64 to place seventh in the 110m hurdles.
● Ali Bowens turned in an sixth place time of 21.70 in the 200m, while Antonio Sims finished eighth with a time of 21.81.
● Antonio Sims clocked in with a time of 48.79 to place 11th in the 400m.
● Junior Tarique Gooden clocked in a time of 55.29 to place to sixth place in the 400m hurdles.
● It was another fantastic outing for John Purvis who captured gold in the shot put with a toss of 16.36m.
● Freshman Jadon Ra-Akbar turned in a sixth place finish in the 110m hurdles by clocking in with a time of 14.73.
● Junior Davian Gray ran a 1:57.78 in the 800m to place sixth place.
● Morgan's 4x100m relay 'A' team consisting of Jadon Ra-Akbar, Antonio Sims, Adrian Holley, and Ali Bowensraced to a third place finish with a time of 41.42.
