Morgan State men’s basketball schedule 2023-24: Arizona, Fresno State and Virginia among Bears' top nonconference opponents

BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 6, 2023) -- Morgan State men's basketball has a loaded nonconference schedule.

Morgan opens up its 2023-24 basketball season in Tucson, Arizona, on Nov. 6 against Arizona and plays two more games at home before playing Nov. 15 at Fresno State and Nov. 18 at Brigham Young before departing for the Cancun Challenge.

The Bears' first opponent in the Cancun Challenge is Radford on Nov. 21 before facing either Chicago State or Northern Colorado possibly in the championship if they reach that point.

Morgan will hit the road for games at Towson (Nov. 26) and High Point (Nov. 29), before returning to Hill Field House for three home games.  The Bears will host Longwood on Dec. 3, UMBC on Dec. 6, followed by Virginia Lynchburg on Dec. 9.

The Bears will travel to Buies Creek, N.C. to face Campbell, before returning home for a Dec. 22 matchup with James Madison.

Morgan concludes its non conference road schedule with a marquee game against Virginia on Dec. 27. Following that game, the Bears face New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, N.J. on Dec. 31 before starting Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play at Maryland Eastern Shore on Jan. 6. The Bears' conference home opener will be on Jan. 8 when they welcome Delaware State to Hill Field House.

Morgan is coming off of a 15-16 campaign in which they went 7-7 in MEAC play to reach the conference tournament.  The Bears were tough at home in Baltimore, going 10-2 at Hill Field House, but fell shy of their ultimate goal. As the Kevin Broadus era enters its fifth season in 2023-24, there are many reasons for optimism.

MSU returns veteran guards Kamron Hobbs (8.4 ppg) and Will Thomas (8.9 ppg) from the starting lineup and added several newcomers including guard Wynston Tabbs from East Carolina, guard Kiran Oliver from New Mexico State, and forward Myles Thompson from Saint Francis (Pa.) via the transfer portal.
