Meet Results

BALTIMORE, Md. (April 23, 2022)--The Morgan State women's track and field team returned home this weekend to host the 16th annual Morgan State Legacy Meet on Saturday at Earl C. Banks Field at Hughes Stadium. With the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions, today's meet marked the return of the Legacy Meet for first time since the 2019 season, which Morgan State won the team title.

The Lady Bears, the defending Legacy Meet champions, took advantage of being at home for the first time this season, as they produced 16 top-10 finishers, including five champions.

It was a special day for Morgan State, which honored six Lady Bear senior's (Rachel Field, Ayanna Henry, Aylexus LeShay, Diamond Moore, Miazziah Rose and Destiny Thompson) prior to the start of the 800-meter run.

Morgan State's field team set the tone, recording three of the team's five individual champions on the day.

Johnelle Johnson would throw a personal-best 44-feet-02.75 inches (13.48m) in the shot put to claim the event title. Her mark is currently the top mark in the MEAC.

Miazziah Rose, competing in her final home meet of her career, followed by winning the high jump title with a height of 5-feet-04.50 inches (1.64m). Tia Jackson also joined in on the action, winning the long jump title with a leap of 19-feet-04.25 inches (5.90m).

Ishana Asinor, who has been consistent all season, recorded a mark of 10-feet-06.00 inches (3.20m) to place second in the pole vault.

Morgan State concluded the field events by finishing second and third in the triple jump. Rose recorded a jump of 37-feet-07.75 (11.47m) to come in second, while Ayanna Henry had a leap of 37-feet-03.00 (11.35m) to finish in third.

On the track, Rachel Field captured two individual titles. First Field won her second straight 3000 meter steeplechase event, finishing in a time of 11:46.14. Then she ended the day by winning the 5000 meter run, crossing the line in a time of 20:06.79.

Diamond Moore placed third in the 400 meter hurdles, crossing the line in a time of 1:06.80 to set a season-best, while Alliayah Ottley set a personal-best after running a time of 14.09 seconds to come in third in the 100 meter hurdles.

Jalissa Emmens ran a season-best time of 2:16.86 to place sixth in the 800 meter run and Jessica Lamborn finished eighth in a time of 2:19.96 to also set a season-best.

Destiny Thompson placed eighth in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dash races, while setting personal bests in both events. In the 100, Thompson finished in a time of 12:26, while crossing the line in the 200 meter dash in 24.81 seconds.

Yasmine George finished ninth in the 400 meter dash in a time of 58.79 seconds.

Next up for Morgan State will be a trip to Philadelphia, Pa. for the 126th Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania (April 28-30) at historic Franklin Field.
