BALTIMORE, Md. (May 26, 2026) -- The Morgan State Bears women's track & field program will be represented by two standout jumpers at the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships East First Rounds, scheduled for May 27-30 at the UK Track & Field Complex in Lexington, Kentucky.

Sophomore Keira Stewart and junior Laniyah Henderson both earned qualifying spots following outstanding performances during the outdoor season and at the MEAC Outdoor Championships.

Stewart, a native of East Hartford, Conn., qualified in the long jump after recording a personal-best leap of 6.22 meters at the MEAC Championships. The sophomore enters the East First Rounds ranked No. 39 in the East Region. The long jump competition is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m.

Henderson, who hails from Hartford, Conn., secured her place in the triple jump after posting a personal-best mark of 13.03 meters at the MEAC Championships. Henderson heads into the regional meet ranked No. 22 in the East Region. The triple jump competition is scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m.

"As a staff, we are extremely proud of Laniyah and Keira on qualifying for the NCAA First Round," said associate head coach Janice Smythe.

"Keira has worked really hard all season and continued to buy into the process, and the results speak to that. Laniyah has shown a lot of grit this season, and even though she started the outdoor season late, she never wavered in her commitment to making it to the NCAA First Round. She has been relentless, and I'm so happy she will be able to share this experience with Keira, as it will be a special one for them."

The NCAA East First Rounds serve as the preliminary qualifying meet for the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will take place June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. The top 12 finishers in each event, along with the top 12 relay teams from both the East and West regional sites, will advance to the national championships.

Women's events will be contested on Thursday and Saturday, while the men's competition will take place on Wednesday and Friday.

Fans can watch the competition live each day through ESPN+ with a paid subscription. Live results will also be available throughout the meet.
