LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 30, 2026)— Morgan State junior Laniyah Henderson capped off an outstanding outdoor campaign Thursday afternoon, competing among the nation's best at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Region First Round at the UK Track & Field Complex on the campus of the University of Kentucky.

Henderson, who entered the meet ranked No. 22 in the East Region in the triple jump, recorded a mark of 40-3½ (12.28m) to place 39th overall in a highly competitive field of 47 athletes. Only the top 12 finishers advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

The Hartford, Conn., native closes the season after establishing herself as one of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's top field athletes. Henderson opened the outdoor season with a fourth-place finish in the long jump at the MSU Legacy Meet, recording a leap of 5.70m. She later earned a runner-up finish in the triple jump at the Kehoe Twilight Meet with a mark of 12.16m and added a personal-best jump of 5.91m in the long jump during the season.

Henderson's breakthrough performance came at the 2026 MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where she captured the conference title in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 13.03m. The championship performance secured her spot in the NCAA East Region First Round and highlighted a season of consistent improvement and success.

Her appearance at the NCAA East Regional marked another significant achievement for the Morgan State women's track & field program, as Henderson represented the Bears on one of collegiate track and field's biggest stages.

Henderson's strong 2026 campaign provides a solid foundation as she looks ahead to her senior season in the Blue and Orange.
