Morgan Men's Track and Field Opens The 2022-23 Season at the Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Dec. 4, 2022)
-- The Morgan State men's track and field team opened up competition in the 2022-23 season at he annual Navy Invitational I in Annapolis, Md. The Bears notched six total top-5 all-time performances at Wesley A. Brown Field House. 
 
How it Happened 
 
    ● Junior Derrick Robinson placed seventh in the 60m dash with a personal best time of 6.98.
 
    ● Junior Emmanuel Ibeh (50.55) and junior Tarique Gooden (51.58) finished ninth and 10th place, respectively, in the 400m dash.
 
    ● Sophomore Duane Kizer placed fourth in the 60m hurdles by crossing the tape with a time of 8.26, while freshman teammate Jadon Ra-Akbar placed sixth (8.30).

    ● In the 800m run, the duo of sophomore Davian Gray and junior Devion Bryant posted fourth and fifth place performances, respectively. Gray crossed the tape with a personal        
       best time 1:56.81, followed by Bryant with a time of 1:57.18. Sophomore Keon Witherspoon finished ninth with a time of 2:03.86.   

    ● Senior Ali Bowens placed seventh in the 200m dash with a a time 22.21, followed by an eighth place finish by freshman Antonio Sims who clocked a time of 22.35.

    ● The 4x400 meter relay team of Tarique Gooden, Antonio SimsAli Bowens and Emmanuel Ibeh) finished third in the event with a time of 3:26:71.
 
    ● In the triple jump, sophomore Joshua Belinga came in sixth place with a personal best leap of 13.92m (45-08.00).  He also had a personal best leap of 6.69m to finish eighth
        in the long jump.
 
    ● Jadon Ra-Akbar earned fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 7.05m (23-01.75). 
 
    ● Junior John Purvis won third place in the shot put with a toss of 16.13 (52-11), and added a 10th place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 15.12m (49-07.25).

The Bears will return to action at the Joe handyman Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 10 in Princeton, N.J.
