BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 23, 2022) - Senior Malik Miller was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Morgan State men's basketball team with three strong performances last week, the league announced Tuesday.
Miller grabbed 26 rebounds, seven steals, and three blocked shots in three games during the week. He recorded a game-high 20 points with 10 rebounds, four steals and a blocked shot in an overtime win against Utah Valley in the opening round of the Jamaica Classic. Miller was also named to the Jamaica Classic's Rose Hall Division All-Tournament Team.
This is no surprise for Miller, as he returns to the 2022-23 season after being nominated to the preseason All-MEAC Second Team. Miller is contributing on both defense and offense and is currently close to averaging a double-double. Through the first six games he is averaging 14.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and is shooting 45.2 percent from the field (38-84 FG). Miller also leads the teams in assists (3.7 apg) and steals (2.7 spg).
Morgan stands 2-5 overall and looks to get back in the win column when they host the Dragons of Virginia University of Lynchburg. Tip-off at Hill Field House is set for November 29th at 6:00 p.m (EST). The game will be streamed live on morganstatebears.com.
