Morgan State Adds Wake Forest transfer Sharone Wright Jr.

BALTIMORE, Md. – Wake Forest transfer Sharone Wright Jr. has signed to play basketball for Morgan State, head coach Kevin Broadus has announced.

"He's a big-time two-way player," said Broadus. 'He can do it all. He's very athletic. He reminds me of a kid I coached when I was at Binghamton, D.J. Rivera. He can get you 20 points and he can stop the best player on the other team."

"Great size, great athleticism," added Broadus. "Just a tenacious player."

Wright, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound guard from Macon, Georgia, will have two seasons of eligibility remaining when he dons a Blue and Orange jersey.

Wright, the son of a former NBA lottery pick, played two seasons at Wake Forest under recently departed head coach Danny Manning.

Wright averaged just 2.2 points per game last season, but aver
aged 7.1 points per game as a freshman in 21 starts.

For his high school career, Wright played his senior season as Legacy Early College High School, and averaged 16.5 points, six rebounds and four assists per game as a junior at West Florence High. He was a four-star recruit who was ranked as the No. 30 shooting guard in the Class of 2018 by ESPN.

Wright joins four-star recruit and point guard Naseem Khaalid in forming MSU's 2020 recruiting class. The Bears lost a pair of seniors in All-MEAC guard Stanley Davis Jr. (13.7 ppg) and forward David Syfax (7.5 ppg).

Morgan State completed the 2019-20 season with a 15-16 overall record in its first season under Broadus. The Bears finished fifth place in the conference standings with a 9-7 mark in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
