SYMRNA, Del. (Sept. 7, 2019) -- The Morgan State men's cross country team took home first place at the Hornet Invitational hosted by Delaware State University. The Bears had eight runners finish in the top fifteen, including four freshmen in the top 10.

It was a beautiful day for a 5K run at the Delaware Outreach & Research Center. Morgan State's young and talented team finished the course by earning 32 points and averaged a combined time of 17:59.60. Delaware State finished with 41 points and Wesley came in third with 67 total points. Coppin State placed fourth with 95 points.

Delaware State's sophomore Corey McGhie (16:41) and senior Hasan Gill (17:30) finished the race in first and fourth place respectively, while Wesley junior Anthony Anastasi (17:45) rounded out the top five.

Morgan State freshmen Keegen Gould and Justin Alston were the first Bears to cross the finish line earning second (17:21) and third place (17:22) finishes.

Freshmen Rashaan Allen Jr. (17:58) earned sixth place and Joseph Okonofua (18:38) finished in tenth place, followed by sophomore Jalon Robinson (18:39) who placed eleventh.

Freshman Jay Minor and sophomore Elisee Djapa (18:56) finished in 13th and 14th place, and freshman Justin Coelho (19:13) crossed the finish line in fifteenth place.

NEXT UP: The Bears will compete at the Eastern Shore XC Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Princess Anne, Md.
