Morgan State-Towson to be Played at Royal Farms Arena in December

BALTIMORE, Md. (August 31, 2018)-- Morgan State men's basketball will play cross-town rival Towson in a neutral site matchup in Baltimore when the Bears visit Royal Farms Arena for a game in December, the school announced on Friday afternoon.

Originally scheduled to be contested at Hill Field House on December 8, 2018, the Morgan-Towson game will be the first of a doubleheader matchup at Royal Farms Arena, followed by Maryland and 2018 Final Four participant Loyola Chicago.

"Playing at Royal Farms Arena will be a tremendous atmosphere for everyone involved and we are excited to be participating this year," said Morgan State's director of intercollegiate athletics Edward Scott. "We expect to receive tremendous support from our fans in the Baltimore area and to be able to bring this game into their backyard is something we take great pride in."

Morgan State has a 4-3 series edge since 1972 in matchups decided on a neutral court against Towson.

"Playing in the Royal Farms Arena is exciting and will elevate the exposure of this game," said Towson director of athletics Tim Leonard. "This will be great for the community and we are thrilled to continue this rivalry with Morgan State on the basketball court."

This will be the first Morgan State-Towson regular season game to be played at a neutral site since the Tigers held on to defeat the Bears 71-69 in overtime on Nov. 16, 2004 in the Guardians Classic in Columbus, Ohio.
