BALTIMORE, Md. (June 4, 2026) -- Morgan State men's basketball has added another impactful piece to its frontcourt for the 2026-27 season with the signing of University of the District of Columbia transfer Oliver Spence, head coach
Kevin Broadus announced as part of the Bears' 2026 recruiting class.
A native of Slovakia, Spence joins Morgan State after spending his freshman season at UDC during the 2025-26 campaign, where he appeared in 17 games and averaged 24.5 minutes, 13.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and shot 54 percent from the field.
The 6-foot-10, 240-pound forward/center showcased his ability to dominate inside and stretch opposing defenses throughout the season. He scored in double figures in 11 games, including five performances of 20 or more points. Spence recorded a season-high 25 points against Virginia Union on Feb. 8, while also posting a 29-point effort and 24 assists during the year.
Spence delivered one of the most dominant performances in program history in a road win over Molloy on February 25, recording a career-high 26 rebounds to go along with 24 points.
His standout freshman campaign earned him East Coast Conference (ECC) Co-Rookie of the Year, becoming the first player in program history to earn Rookie of the Year honors, and he was selected Third Team All-Conference after averaging 23.7 points, 13.3 rebounds, and shooting 61 percent from the floor over a three-game stretch.
His impact extended across the conference leaderboard. Spence ranked 13th in the ECC in scoring, 8th in rebounding, 8th in blocked shots, and 4th in field goal percentage.
"Oliver brings toughness, versatility, and a high motor to our frontcourt," said Broadus. "He's a skilled player who can score around the basket, rebound at a high level, and continue to develop into a major contributor in our program. We're excited to welcome him to the Morgan family."
Before beginning his collegiate career, Spence attended Good Counsel High School, where he established himself as a strong two-way presence with the ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.
Spence joins a growing Morgan State recruiting class as the Bears continue building toward the 2026-27 campaign under Broadus' leadership.
