BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 10, 2026) -- Former Morgan State men's basketball standout guard and recent graduate Elijah Davis has signed his first professional contract, joining Apolonia Fier of Albania's Superliga for the 2026-27 season.
The contract marks the next chapter in the career of the talented point guard, who made an immediate impact during his lone season with the Bears and established himself as one of the top playmakers in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
"Signing my first contract means a lot, you know, just because I know I'm making my family, my friends, my community and others proud," Davis said. "I've been through a lot my whole life and career, and to see the fruits of my labor and the sacrifices my mother and nana made really pay off means everything to me."
A BOXTOROW All-American, Davis proved to be the engine of the Bears' offense during the 2025-26 season. The Severn, Maryland native led the MEAC in assists and set the Morgan State single-season record with 153 assists, averaging 6.0 per game to break the previous mark of 5.5 assists per game set by Chico Langston during the 1992-93 season.
Davis started all 26 games and averaged 13.8 points, 6.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 45 percent from the field and 73 percent from the free-throw line. He also totaled 29 steals and four blocked shots.
He scored in double figures 20 times, including three 20-point performances, and recorded four double-doubles in points and assists. One of his signature performances came in an 82-68 victory over Delaware State at Hill Field House, when Davis finished with 15 points, a game-high 15 assists and seven rebounds in 39 minutes. His 15 assists tied the Morgan State single-game record previously set by Kameron Hobbs against Virginia-Lynchburg in 2023.
Davis credits Morgan State head coach Kevin Broadus and the Bears' coaching staff for helping prepare him for the demands of professional basketball.
"Yes, after two days of practice, I can say Coach Broadus and the staff really prepared me for this environment," Davis said. "It makes the practices in Albania easy."
Davis also made his mark on the national HBCU basketball scene this summer, earning MVP honors at Historic Rucker Park during the HBCU All-Star Dream Classic.
As he begins his professional career in Albania, Davis enters the next phase of his journey with clear goals for himself both on and off the court.
"My goal in Albania is to prove myself right and to prove to everyone that the results I had in college will be the results I have as a professional," Davis said. "Hopefully, I can continue to grow, perform at a high level, and put myself in a position to earn a six-figure contract on my next deal."
Davis' professional journey provides another opportunity for a former Bear to carry the Morgan State tradition onto the international basketball stage.
