"I'm really proud of how this weekend turned out for both myself and the team," said Brylan Carter, who claimed Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet honors.. "I was able to place first in the hammer and javelin and fourth in the discus, which helped me score 25 points for the team. More importantly, I'm proud of the way our team competed overall to finish second.
"We weren't projected to place that high, and throughout the season, we dealt with a lot of adversity, including challenges I faced personally, but everyone continued to fight and support one another. Seeing the resilience and determination from this group was really special.
"I'm especially proud of our younger athletes because they showed so much potential, and I truly believe this team can accomplish even more as they continue to grow and matriculate through the program."
"We believe that anything is possible if we believe and trust the process," said head coach Neville Hodge. "We came together for one common cause, and that was to set the stage early, and we never quit. We fought until the last event was over. This approach was applied to both teams. We beat all odds at this year's MEAC Outdoor Championships. Bear Speed!"
Morgan State's runner-up finish capped a successful three-day championship performance that featured multiple gold medals, relay success, and strong contributions across nearly every event group.
