Men’s Track & Field Soars at Kehoe Twilight Meet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (May 1, 2026) -- The Morgan State men's track & field team completed its final preparations for the postseason as they traveled to College Park to compete in the Kehoe Twilight Meet, hosted by the University of Maryland.  This event served as their final opportunity to fine-tune ahead of the upcoming Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Championships, scheduled from May 14th to 16th.

The Bears turned in several standout performances at the Kehoe Twilight Meet, highlighted by dominant efforts in the field and strong middle-distance showings on the track.
 
Junior Isaac Rankin led the way with a first-place finish in the high jump, clearing a personal-best 2.08m, while freshman Jeryco Sheppard made it a 1-2 finish with his own personal-best mark of 2.01m. Freshman Derrick McCorkle Jr. also delivered a big-time performance, capturing the long jump title with a personal-best leap of 7.43m, ranking among the top HBCU marks this season. Sophomore Demond Smith added to the field success with a fourth-place finish in the discus (48.08m).

On the track, sophomore Caleb Mincey paced the Bears with a pair of top-five finishes, taking fourth in the 1500m (3:52.31) and fifth in the 800m (1:48.44). Freshman Myles Dorsey had a strong day as well, placing sixth in the 200m (21.88) and clocking a personal-best 48.50 in the 400m to finish eighth. Senior Jadon Ra-Akbar added a fifth-place finish in the 110m hurdles (15.03), while freshman Abrahm Vargas posted a season-best 57.80 in the 400m hurdles for seventh.
 
The 4x100m relay team capped the meet with a solid fifth-place finish in 41.37, showcasing the Bears' continued progress heading into championship season.

Sophomore Ronald Gilmore ran a time of 11.09 to finish in 11th place. Freshman Donavon Winslow clocked in at 11.13 (14th), freshmen Christian Raysor and Derrick Mccorkle Jr. placed 17th (11.29) and 18th (11.35), respectively.

Senior Jadon Ra-Akbar placed 5th with a time of 15.03.

200m
Freshman Myles Dorsey ran a time of 21.88 and finished 6th.

400m
Freshman Myles Dorsey ran a personal best 48.50 to place 8th.

400mH
Freshman Abrahm Vargas ran a season. Best 57.80 to place 7th.

800m
Sophomore Caleb Mincey ran a time of 1:48.44 to finish in 5th place. Freshman Keenan Frisby posted a season best 1:52.47 to place 15th, freshman Miguel Graham recorded a time of 1:59.51 (31st), and freshman Joshua Moore ran a 2:03.56 (34th).

1500m
Sophomore Caleb Mincey finished 4th with a time of 3:52.31.

4x100m
The Morgan 'A' team (R. Gilmore, C. Raysor, D. Winslow, M. Dorsey) raced to a 5th place finish with a time of 41.37.

Discus Throw
Sophomore Demond Smith had a toss of 48.08m to finish in 4th place.

Hammer Throw
Sophomore Demond Smith placed 11th with a toss of 46.50m.

High Jump
Junior Isaac Rankin cleared a personal best 2.08m to capture 1st place, followed by freshman Jeryco Sheppard, who placed 2nd with a personal best mark of 2.01m. Freshman Jahshua Lamothe had a season-best leap of 1.90m, along with sophomore KeSean-Jordan Rhooms, to finish tied for 6th. Freshman Jacob Denny cleared 1.85m.

Javelin Throw
Freshman Jacob Denny placed 7th with a mark of 48.28m.

Long Jump
Freshman Derrick Mccorkle Jr. captured 1st place by clearing a personal best 7.43 – HBCU #10. Freshman Noah Hopes placed 10th with a season-best mark of 6.78m.

Pole Vault
Freshman Jeryco Sheppard cleared 4.50m to place 2nd.

Shot Put
Sophomore Demond Smith placed 8th with a toss of 13.20m.
