Morgan State Set to Host Annual Legacy Track Meet

BALTIMORE, Md. (April 16, 2026) -- Morgan State University is set to host its annual Legacy Track Meet on April 17-18 at Earl C. Banks Field at Hughes Stadium. The prestigious two-day event will welcome some of the nation's top collegiate track and field athletes for a highly competitive weekend in Baltimore.
 
Competition gets underway on Friday, April 17, at 12 p.m. with the hammer throw, followed by the javelin later that afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
 
Action resumes on Saturday, April 18, with running events set to begin at 9:40 a.m., ushering in an exciting lineup of sprint, distance, and hurdle races. Field events will follow at 10 a.m., featuring the long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put, and discus.
 
The Legacy Track Meet promises a strong showcase of collegiate talent, featuring a diverse field of competitors from across the region. Several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are expected to compete, including Bowie State, Coppin State, Delaware State, Howard, Maryland Eastern Shore, and the University of the District of Columbia. Additional local programs, such as Johns Hopkins, Loyola (Md.), Towson, and UMBC, will further enhance the competitive field.
 

As the host institution, Morgan State will look to deliver standout performances in front of its home crowd, adding to the excitement and tradition of the annual meet.
 
The weekend will also include a special Senior Day ceremony at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, where Morgan State will honor its graduating seniors for their academic achievements and contributions to the program as they prepare for the next chapter of their journeys.
 
Live results will be available throughout the meet, with final results posted on the Morgan State Athletics website, MorganStateBears.com, following competition.

Facilities:
Newly resurfaced - forty-eight (48) inch 8 lanes of Beynon BSSC 2000 Encapsulated track surface. Complete with a practice field used for warm-ups, located outside the stadium next to the Morgan Parking Garage. Dual-direction runways for long jump, triple jump, and pole vault are located in the stadium on the outside of the track to allow the best views for spectators and coaches. Dual high jump pit is located on the east end of the infield. Dual shot put circles are located on the west end of the infield and are brushed concrete.
