MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 21, 2026) -- The Morgan State men's track & field team officially opened its outdoor season this weekend at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, a three-day competition held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach.
Hosted by the City of Myrtle Beach, the meet featured a highly competitive field of 45 teams and clubs representing 21 states, along with international participation from Ottawa, Canada.
The invitational served as an important early-season test as the Bears transitioned from a strong indoor campaign into the outdoor season. Several athletes delivered promising performances, setting the tone for what the program hopes will be a successful spring.
"The team's opener was very productive," said head coach
Neville Hodge. "We had an opportunity to showcase our talent on a big stage, and we saw some very good performances."
With the outdoor season now underway, Morgan State will continue building momentum as it prepares for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Championships later this spring.
