BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 2, 2026) -- The Morgan State women's cross country team turned in a solid performance Friday at the Richmond Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond, placing 12th in the team standings on a sunny morning at Pole Green Park.

The Bears finished the 6K course with 387 points. Elon captured the team title with 42 points, followed by George Washington and host Richmond, which tied for second with 77 points. High Point placed fourth with 104 points, while Davidson rounded out the top five with 149 points.

"Today was a true test for us as a young team, both men and women," said Morgan State head coach Neville Hodge. "However, we showed up and competed. We learned a lot about who we are as a team, and we know we have to focus on finishing a lot stronger as we prepare for our next meet and ultimately the MEAC Cross Country Championship. We did have some highlights on both the men's and women's teams."

Sophomore Kennedi Green led the Bears across the finish line, placing 111th overall with a time of 26:13.6. Senior teammate Crystal Coke followed closely behind, finishing 112th in 26:33.7, just 20.1 seconds behind Green.

Freshman Rhian Jeffries was next for Morgan State, crossing the finish line in 26:51.7 to place 115th. Sophomore Aiana Showell finished 124th with a time of 30:06.1, while freshman Jahniya Barclay rounded out the Bears' lineup with a time of 31:07.1.

Morgan State will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 17, when the Bears travel to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to compete in the Aubrey Shenk Invitational, hosted by Gettysburg College.
