NORFOLK, Va. (May 15, 2025)--The Morgan State women's track and field team got off to a fast start on Day 1 of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track & Field Championships held at Dick Price Stadium on the campus of Norfolk State University.

The Lady Bears produced one individual champion on Thursday and concluded opening day in the team lead with 18 points after two scored events.
Â
North Carolina Central is in second place with 16 points and Delaware State is third with 15 points. Host Norfolk State is fourth with 13 points and defending champion Howard sits in fifth with eight points. South Carolina State has five points for sixth and Maryland Eastern Shore is seventh with three points.

Freshman
Cailyn Johnson captured Morgan State's first gold of the championships after claiming the discus throw title with a personal best mark of 48.02 meters.

Fellow teammate
Addriana Cordner also set a personal best, as she finished sixth in the discus with a distance of 38.29 meters, while
Brylan Carter placed ninth with a season best throw of 36.97 meters.

Morgan State added to its scoring with
Tia Jackson taking fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.60 meters.
Aleah Alexander had a season best jump of 1.55m to place eighth.

Aaliyah Headley finished seventh in the 10,000-meter run after completing the race in a time of 46:10.33.
Â
Jatavia Robinson qualified for the 200-meter dash finals, after recording a personal best time of 24.09 seconds to place fifth during the preliminaries round.
