TOWSON, Md. (April 5, 2025) — The Morgan State men's track and field team undertook a brief but purposeful trip to participate in the yearly Towson Twilight Meet. The meet provided a benchmark of their progress as they moved further into the outdoor season.
The team recorded 14 top-5 finishes, including five runner-up performances.
Jadon Ra-Akbar soared to victory in the long jump, securing second place with an impressive personal best leap of 6.88 meters. KeSean-Jordan Rhooms placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.89 meters.
Kimani Coffee and Demond Smith delivered a strong showing for their team in the throwing events. Coffee showcased his prowess in the hammer throw, securing a second-place finish with an impressive toss of 45.29 meters. Smith earned fifth place in the same event with a respectable 40.02-meter throw. The duo continued to shine in the shot put, with Smith achieving third place with a solid 13.97-meter toss. Coffee followed closely behind, claiming fourth place with a throw of 12.87 meters.
In the 100-meter dash, Dante Jackson raced to a fifth place finish by running a time of 10.77
Maxim Copeland spearheaded a strong showing for the team in the 200 meter dash, securing a well-earned second place finish with a personal best time of 21.55 seconds. His performance was closely followed by teammates, with Doyin Smith by placing fourth in 21.68 seconds (PR). Rounding out the team's success in the event, Dante Jackson finished just behind Smith, taking fifth place with a time of 21.72 seconds.
Timothy Rich led the Bears in the 400 meter dash where he earned a third place finish, clocking in at 57.78.
Rushshane Fulerton led the Bears long distance efforts, showcasing his endurance and speed in the 800 meter run. His performance earned him a third place finish, clocking in at a personal best time of 1:54.150, followed by teammate Samuel Skinner placing sixth with a time of 1:59.71.
The 4x100 meter quartet of Jadon Ra-Akbar, Dante Jackson, Antonio Sims, and Doyin Smith crossed the tape with a time of 41.48 seconds, securing a decisive second-place finish.
