BALTIMORE, Md. (April 19, 2025) —The Morgan State men's track and field team delivered a series of commendable performances at the Annual Legacy Track Meet, held on their home turf at Earl C. Banks Field within Hughes Stadium.
The Bears had a number of personal bests. The meet provided an opportunity for the team to fine-tune their skills and assess their progress as they move closer to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship season. With supportive home crowd cheering them on, Morgan athletes left a strong impression at this year's Legacy Track Meet.
The team wrapped the meet by recording thirteen top-5 finishes.
Samuel Skinner emerged as a standout performer for the Bears on the track, showcasing his talent with a strong performance in the 800-meter dash. The freshman runner clocked a personal best time of 1:52.55, securing a close second place finish. Skinner was nipped at the finish line by Virginia State's Desmond Kirwa, who claimed the top spot with a time of 1:51.79. Adding to the Bears' success in the event, Caleb Mincey also delivered a strong showing, finishing third with a time of 1:52.60.
Jadon Ra-Akbar raced to a fourth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.67. In addition to his performance on the track. Beyond the hurdles, the junior also excelled in the long jump, securing a sixth-place result with a leap of 6.80 meters.
Freshman Timothy Rich turned in a personal best of 56.71 to place fifth in the 400-meter hurdles. Dante Jackson finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.65. He also showcased his speed in the 200-meters, clocking in at 21.75, narrowly trailing teammate Maxim Copeland, who secured 11th place with a time of 21.67.
In the field events, the Bears continued to perform solid, demonstrating consistent strength and technique across multiple disciplines.
KeSean-Jordan Rhooms showcased his versatility, securing fourth place in both the high jump and triple jump. His leap of 1.90 meters was good enough for fourth place in the high jump, while his 14.29-meter jump in the triple jump also earned fourth place. Adding to the Bears' success in the field, Omari McKenzie secured third place in the triple jump with a personal best mark of 14.37 meters.
Kimani Coffee was a key contributor for his team in the throwing events. His performance was highlighted by a third-place finish in the javelin, where he launched the spear a personal best distance of 38.20 meters. Coffee's versatility was further demonstrated in the hammer throw and discus, securing fourth-place finishes in both. He recorded a throw of 48.12 meters (PR) in the hammer and reached a mark of 43.19 meters in the discus.
Freshman Ashton Dais had a respectable fourth place finish in the pole vault, clearing a personal best height of 3.65 meters. He also added a fourth place mark in the javelin with a personal best distance of 32.44 meters.
