WILMINGTON, N.C. (March 8, 2025)--The Morgan State women's track and field team began the outdoor season competing in the two-day UNCW Seahawk Invitational hosted by UNC Wilmington at Harold Greene Track and Field Complex.

The Lady Bears finished with 12 top-five finishers, including two champions,
Keira Stewart and
Cailyn Johnson.
Â
Stewart won the long jump with a leap of 5.92 meters, while Johnson captured gold in the discus with a mark of 47.33 meters. Johnson would also place fifth in the shot put with a toss of 11.87 meters.
Â
Brylan Carter placed second in the javelin with a throw of 34.26 meters, while Hemetii Apet came in second in the triple jump with a leap of 10.89 meters.

TyTiana Grandy recorded a height of 1.60 meters to finish second in the high jump and
Addriana Cordner had a mark of 37.65 meters in the discus throw to finish fourth.

On the track,
Denisha McLaurin came in second in the 100 hurdles, crossing the line in 14.85 seconds and
Lailah King placed fourth in the 100-meter dash, finishing in a time of 12.16 seconds.

In the 1500-meter run,
Jessica Lamborn came in third, finishing in a time of 5:05.28, while
Aaliyah Headley was fourth, running a time of 5:09.40.

Morgan's 4X100 meter relay team took third place in a time of 47.83 seconds.

Next up for the Lady Bears will be a trip to Charlotte, N.C. to compete in the 49er Classic (March 20-22), hosted by Charlotte.
