Washington Named To All-MEAC Bowling Third Team

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 20, 2025)--Morgan State graduate bowler Cheyenne Washington was named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Third Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday night during the conference's bowling awards.
 
North Carolina A&T State swept the major awards with Maya Avilez being named MEAC Player of the Year, while teammate Victorya White garnered MEAC Rookie of the Year honors and head coach Kim Terrell-Kearney was named MEAC Coach of the Year for the fifth consecutive year.
 
All awards were voted on by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.
 
A native of Pontiac, Mich., Washington helped Morgan State to a 37-39 overall record during the regular season, including a 10-4 mark in the MEAC, good for third place.
 
Washington led the team in average pins with 193.06. She's knocked down a total of 5,599 pins in 29 games played. During the MEAC #2 Event, she totaled a season-best 1,390 pins for an average of 198.6 to help Morgan secure a third-place regular season finish. Washington would have a high game of 226 against Alabama-Birmingham (UAB).
 
In the Northeast Classic, Washington totaled 1,110 pins for a season high average of 222.00. Washington twice rolled a season-best high game of 267 that weekend against both Sam Houston State and Maryland Eastern Shore.
 
Washington ranks 7th in the MEAC in anchor 10th frame fill percentage (83.7%), 9th in traditional format single pin spare percentage (89.3%), 12th in single pin spare percentage (86.2%), 15th in frame fill percentage (80.7%) and 15th in Baker format fill percentage (80.5%).
 
Washington was joined on the third team by Sarah Orensky (Delaware State), Cameren Sullivan (Howard), Brooke Driver (Maryland Eastern Shore) and Jordan Shipp (UAB).
 
The 2025 MEAC Bowling Championship tournament will be held at Buffaloe Lanes North in Raleigh, N.C. from March 21-23. The Lady Bears will take on No. 6 Howard in their first match of the tournament on Friday at 9 a.m.
