MOUNT JOY, Pa. (Feb. 8, 2026)--The Lady Bears bowling team returned to the lanes this weekend as they competed in the 8^th annual Mount Shootout, hosted by Mount St. Mary's at Clearview Lanes.
 
Morgan State, which was competing for the first time in three weeks, placed ninth overall. Niagara won the team title, followed by runner-up Mount St. Mary's and Fairleigh Dickinson, which finished third.
 
The Lady Bears finished the opening day going 3-2 in Baker play. Morgan State started off by earning back-to-back wins over Wagner (913-560) and a one-point victory over Molloy (967-966), before dropping its next two contests against Howard (853-881) and Niagara (934-1099). Morgan State regrouped and earned a win over Kutztown (967-940) to close out Friday's action.
 
On Saturday, Morgan State went just 2-3 in traditional team play. Morgan dropped the opening match against host Mount St. Mary's (1045-1075) but regrouped to defeat Bryant (946-1104) and Mercyhurst (938-935). The Lady Bears then lost to Fairleigh Dickinson (1028-1076) and closed out the day defeating Alvernia (915-853).
 
Morgan State entered Sunday's best-of-seven bracket play in 10^th place. In their first match, the Lady Bears led 2-0, before dropping the next four games to fall to Molloy, 4-2. The team then met Holy Family, which they beat 4-1, setting the stage for a rematch with Molloy for ninth-place. This time the Lady Bears would defeat Molloy, 4-1.
 
Individually, Morgan State was led by senior Ayanna Carroll, who totaled 1,053 pins to place 16^th overall. Carroll averaged 210.60 pins in five matches and recorded a high game of 255 in the opener against Wagner.
 
Next up for the Lady Bears will be the 10^th annual James Brown Bowling Invitational (JBI), hosted by Morgan State. The tournament will take place Friday, Feb. 13-Sunday, Feb. 15 at AMF Towson Lanes in Towson, Md.
