Track & Field Kicks Off Indoor Campaign at Penn Opener

Bears Head to the Ott Center for First Meet

BALTIMORE, Md. (Dec. 4, 2025) — The Morgan State men's and women's track & field teams will open their indoor season this weekend when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa., for the Penn Opener, set for Dec. 5-6 at the Ott Center. Hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, the competition begins Friday with the men's heptathlon and women's pentathlon.

The Bears will return to Philadelphia the following Saturday (Dec. 10) for the Penn Select, their final meet of the 2025 calendar year. After a holiday break, Morgan State resumes action on Jan. 17 at the KPMG HBCU Showcase in Manhattan, N.Y.

"This will be our first time competing at the Penn Opener," said head coach Neville Hodge. "It's an opportunity for us to evaluate our preparation for the upcoming meets. Indoors have always been a challenge due to some of the barriers we face weekly, but we expect to be competitive."

"This year, our teams are larger than in previous seasons. We have many student-athletes who haven't competed at the Division I level, so our staff is eager to see how they handle themselves in this environment. Go Bears!"
