From Morgan State to the Global Court: Bears Shining Overseas

At least 11 former Bears are playing for professional teams across seven different countries in the 2024-25 season

BALTIMORE, Md. (Jan. 24, 2025) — While Morgan State men's basketball is fully immersed in the heated Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) race for the 2024-25 season, the program's influence extends far beyond U.S. borders.

A number of former Bears  are continuing their playing careers across seven different countries, competing in top-tier leagues and representing the legacy of Morgan State basketball on the global stage.

Here's a look at the latest performances for three former Bears who are playing overseas.

This list will be updated:

Malik Miller
(6'4''- G, played in 2018-23, plays pro in Denmark)

Miller is already making headlines with standout performances that showcase his versatility and potential. In a recent game, Miller was the major contributor in Svendborg's victory against the closely-ranked Amager (0-6) crushing them 98-66 in the Danish BasketLigaen. In just his second season as a professional basketball player, he recorded a remarkable double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, showing his ability to dominate both offensively and on the glass. He also dished out 7 assists and had two blocks.  The Svendborg Rabbits (8-1) are currently in second place in the BasketLigaen. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Miller's first year with the team and he's currently averaging 14.1 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 3.8 apg and 2.4 spg.

Lagio Grantsaan
(6'8''- F, played in 2019-22, plays in Croatia)

Grantsaan recently led Osijek to a victory against the fifth-ranked Kvarner (5-4) 92-81 in the Croatian Premijer Liga. Grantsaan scored 11 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. KK Vrijednosnice Osijek (2-7) closes the standings in the Premijer Liga. This year Grantsaan is averaging 7.3 ppg, 4.1 rpg and 1.1 apg in nine games played.

Keith McGee

McGee who plays in Cameroon could not help KSA (2-1) to beat Stade (3-0) in the Basketball Africa League. It was not his best game last Saturday. McGee recorded only 3 points in 9 minutes on the court. The bottom-ranked KSA was crushed 80-59 on the road by the much higher-ranked Stade (#16). It's McGee's first season with the team and he's averaging 6.0 ppg.

Stanley Davis Jr.

(6'5''- G, played in 2016-20, plays pro in Portugal)

Davis showcased his skills in Galomar's game last Saturday, but his strong performance was not enough to carry his team to victory. Facing a formidable opponent in Ovarense, the third-ranked team in the league, Galomar (2-10) suffered a 78-67 defeat on their home court. Despite the loss, Davis Jr. stood out as a bright spot, contributing 15 points, making him the team's second-highest scorer for the game. In addition to his scoring, Davis Jr. stuffed the stat sheet with 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and an impressive 4 steals during his 34 minutes on the floor. This season, Davis Jr. has been a reliable presence for Galomar, averaging 10.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.
