Fisher Places First; Lady Bears Place Second At UMES

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (Sept. 21, 2024)--Morgan State senior Abigail Fisher captured the individual title at the Soaring Hawk Invitational with a winning time of 20:03.2 on Saturday. It was her first victory this season.
 
Fisher's time helped pace Morgan State to a second-place team finish with 45 points, as three Lady Bears placed within the top-10.
 
Aaliyah Headley came in third, finishing the 5k race in a time of 20:52.2, while Jessica Lamborn crossed the line in a time of 21:36.06 to place eighth. Hemetii Apet just missed on finishing in the top-10, as she ran 22:11.2 to place 11th.
 
Delaware State captured the team title with 26 points. Maryland Eastern Shore (69) came in third, while Coppin State (106) was fourth and Saint Peter's (115) placed fifth.
 
Morgan State will be off until Saturday, Oct. 12, when the team travels to Newark, N.J. to compete in the NJIT Highlander Challenge.
