HARRISONBURG, Va. (April 13, 2024) — The Morgan State men's track & field team delivered a commendable performance at the JMU Invite, held at Sentara Park amidst sunny and windy conditions.
The meet brought together 11 teams from across the region, including George Mason, Hampton, Marshall, Michigan State, UMBC, and host James Madison.
Among the standout athletes was senior sprinter Adrian Holley. Holley's impressive streak continued as he secured first place in the 100m dash for the third consecutive meet. This time the Gaithersburg (Md.) product outraced the field with a time of 10.41 seconds, setting the tone for the Bears' strong showing.
Morgan's 4x100m relay team consisting of Antonio Sims, Dante Jackson, Omari McKenzie and Adrian Holley raced to a 4th place finish by clocking in with a time of 41.77.
Other Highlights
• Perry Bennett and Davian Gray competed in the men's 1500m. Bennett finished with a time of 4:10.84, meanwhile Gray finished with a 4:11.64 time.
• In the 800m, Devion Bryant crossed the finish line in 13th place with a 2:01.37.
• Aaron Bhagwan ran in the men's 400m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 1:05.92.
• Antonio Sims turned in a personal best time of 48.21 in the 400m dash to take 4th place, just ahead of teammate Dante Jackson who placed 5th with a time of 48.31. Sims also recorded a personal best time in the 200m with a time of 21.75 (8th place).
• Derick Robinson recorded a distance of 6.70m to finished T-4th place in the men's long jump. Omari McKenzie finished 6th place with a mark of 6.46m.
• Malik Brown cleared a height o7 3.50m to place fifth in the pole vault.
