COLLEGE PARK, Md. (March 24, 2024)—Morgan State's women's track and field team resumed the outdoor season over its spring break, as it competed in the Maryland Invitational, which took place Friday and Saturday at the Kehoe Track and Field Complex on the University of Maryland campus.
The Lady Bears had a productive weekend with nine of their 17 top 10 performances coming in the field events.
On Friday,
Johnelle Johnson placed second in the discus throw with a mark of 154-02 (47.01m), while
Terine Lambert came in fourth with a throw of 132-07 (40.42m).
On Saturday, Johnson came in second again, this time in the hammer throw with a toss of 155-11 (47.53m).
Brylan Carter placed third, recording a throw of 140-04 (42.79m) and Lambert finished sixth with a mark of 134-07 (41.04m).
Ishana Asinor had a height of 10-06.00 (3.20m) to place third in the pole vault, while Carter finished eighth in the javelin throw with a distance of 98-02 (29.93m).
In the long jump, Hemetii Apet recorded a jump of 16-04.25 (4.98m) and
Ayah Rahman placed fourth with a leap of 15-07.00 (4.75m).
On the track,
Denisha McLaurin came in third in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 15.30 seconds.
Victoria Francis ran a time of 12.40 seconds to place fifth in the 100-meter dash.
Aleisha Robinson ran a time of 1:00.29 in the 400-meter dash to place sixth, while
Laniyah Henderson placed 10
th, finishing in a time of 1:01.79.
In the 1500-meter run,
Jessica Lamborn led the Lady Bears with an eighth-place finish, crossing the line in 5:03.80.
Crystal Coke ran a time of 5:04.64 to place ninth and
Abigail Fisher finished in 10
th in a time of 5:05.63.
The Lady Bears' 4X100 meter relay team of
Laniyah Henderson,
Victoria Francis,
Aleisha Robinson and
Denisha McLaurin ran a time of 48.89 seconds to finish in third.
Morgan State will be back in action on Friday, March 29, when it competes in the Towson Invitational hosted by Towson University.
