Women’s Cross Country Places Fourth At MEAC Championship

SMYRNA, Del. (Nov. 2, 2024)--
The Morgan State women's cross country team placed fourth in Saturday afternoon's 2024 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Championship, hosted by Delaware State at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center.
 
Morgan State, which finished with 103 points, was led by senior Abigail Fisher, who finished the 5k race in a time of 19:14.2 to place 14th overall. Fisher, who was Morgan's top finisher in every meet this season, would earn All-MEAC honors. Fisher paced four Lady Bears, who placed in the top-20.
 
Fellow senior Jessica Lamborn ran a time of 19:32.6 to finish 18th, while junior Aaliyah Headley finished 19th in a time of 19:35.3. Sophomore Crystal Coke would cross the line next in a time of 19:43.3 to place 20th.
 
Sophomore Hemetii Apet (20:50.6) and freshman Kayla More (2:39.5), placed 32nd and 34th, respectively.
 
Norfolk State claimed the team title with 25 points. It was the second straight title for the Spartans and the fourth since the 2019 season.
 
Howard's Joslyn Crosby captured the individual title in a time of 17:15.1 to help the Bison to a second-place team finish with 39 points. North Carolina Central took third with 91 points and Delaware State (121 points) came in fifth behind Morgan State.
